Keeping Hybrid Teams Connected: What We’ve Learned

What are the specific challenges of managing a hybrid workforce?
One of the biggest challenges in managing a hybrid workforce is maintaining employee engagement. When team members feel disconnected from their work and their colleagues, it’s easy to lose sight of shared goals. This disconnection can lead to miscommunication, decreased productivity, and missed opportunities. In a hybrid setting, the lack of daily in-person interaction can allow seemingly small issues to go unnoticed until they grow into larger problems.
What are some of the methods you’ve learned to use to manage your hybrid workforce?
At The Hollister Group, we address this challenge in two key ways. First, we actively create opportunities for meaningful connection—whether that’s through Hollister Happy Hours, weekly softball games, or company-wide guided meditations led by our Founder & CEO, Kip Hollister. These touchpoints foster camaraderie and keep our team feeling connected.
Second, we’ve implemented our proprietary REAL Conversations program, which provides a framework for authentic, productive dialogue both in and outside the workplace. Honest communication is essential for a healthy work environment—and in a hybrid model, it’s even more critical. Without regular face-to-face interaction, unresolved concerns can easily build up. REAL Conversations gives our team the tools to address issues openly and respectfully, no matter where they’re working from.
